Replaceable razors are a rip off. We all know they are overpriced and over engineered. And when they release a new version good luck trying to find the replacement heads for an old handle. The disposable razor is usually the opposite: super cheap and with nothing extra. Bic recently introduced a new line called Hybrid Advance. It’s a cheap basic razor that comes with a handful of replaceable cartridges. When the heads run out you throw the whole thing out and start over from scratch and you aren’t locked into one of the shaving “systems”.
For eight dollars you get the razor handle and 6 replacement cartridges which is a great deal. But the cartridges are as barebone as ones you would find on the lowest end of disposible razors. There is no lubrication strip and the three blades seem a little too far apart.
My experience with the razor was painful. The blades didn’t cut smoothly so there was a lot of tugging. Halfway through I had to change to another razor.
While the idea is novel and meant to disrupt the razor market the quality of the product just isn’t there.
