I am a geek. And there is nothing that says geek more than making things or taking them apart. For those people there is Make: Magazine.
From the sensible and information to the completely bat-shit crazy ideas, Make: covers them all. Want to learn about MakerBot Industries? Want to make a portable laser light show? Make: has got you covered. They have great interviews, detailed step-by-step instructions, just perfect DIY for whatever type of geek you are. The art and visual style of each issue is also particularly awesome, a rarity in magazines.
Mind you, I have rarely made anything I read about in Make:. It’s just enough to know that it is possible and maybe one day I will dig out the soldering iron and create a project from my collection of back issues. Mind you, Make: does not come cheap. It’s a hefty price but it is a quarterly journal and it is a great magazine, one that you will keep on the shelf for years to come.
